Tara ended up winning the House A PoV, while Dan won the House B PoV. Both of them made it clear that they were vetoing themselves, meaning that Clifford and Nick had to start preparing replacement nominees. Clifford began to recognize that Tyler was undermining him, so he roped Pydo and Trey into a plan to blindside him and Brandon by feeding them a few well-crafted lies about Tyler's intentions with them. This plan relied on Nick being willing to nominate Tyler, but he was growing increasingly wary of Clifford due to how hard he was playing. Because of this, he leaked the plan to Tyler, who then began to counteract with a plan to blindside Ben. Nick eventually decided to go along with Tyler's plan when he realized the votes were there. Before Nick informed him of his decision, Clifford nominated Trey as a pawn against Brandon, since he figured that he would have the votes to keep him. |

FOR THE LOVE OF GODDDDDDDD is the first episode of Big Brother 23.
Episode Summary
The game started, and the champions immediately hit the ground running hard. Most of the houseguests were deep into their social rounds, but many people noticed that Slim and Tara were a bit less socially present than others, and Trey did not show up until a day after the game started due to not realizing it had started. Immediately recognizing the potential threat that Ben, Clifford, and Tasha posed as a trio after seeing their runs in previous seasons, Tyler began to subtly undermine them, although he still had intentions of working with them in the short run. Meanwhile, Clifford showed that he had no interest in immediately getting rid of Ben or Tasha, but also made it clear that he had no intention of sticking with them through the entire game. To cover themselves, Duncan and Clifford vowed to be each others' number ones because they knew that Ben and Tasha would always put each other first, even though they both expressed that they wanted to play more separate games this time around. Adam and Felix realized that they had a connection from a previous ORG and made a final 2. Ultimately, it seemed as if an old-school vs. new-school battle was shaping up.
Before the HoH competition was revealed, the houseguests were offered the chance to sit out of the HoH competition, but publically receive a mystery power. Joe took the offer first, receiving a Veto Entrance Ticket, which allowed him to guarantee his spot in any PoV competition. The competition, the BB Bug from Big Brother: Over the Top, was revealed and it was also revealed that there will be a split house twist during week 1, with two simultaneous games of Big Brother happening and two people going home. The HoH competition was controlled by the old-schoolers, leading to Nick becoming the House A HoH and Clifford becoming the House B HoH. After the schoolyard pick, the houses (in order of when the houseguests were picked) ended up being:
House A
Nick
Mackie
Adam
Ben
Pydo
Tyler
Slim
Tara
House B
Clifford
Joe
Duncan
Tasha
Trey
Dan
Brandon
Felix
In House A, Nick nominated Adam and Tara since they seemed the least connected in the house, with Tara being his target. Adam was shocked by this, as Clifford had falsely convinced him that he would safe for the week, causing him to grow wary him. In House B, Clifford nominated Brandon and Dan, with his target being Brandon. This worried Brandon, as he had a feeling that Clifford was targeting him.
Before the PoV picks were held, Clifford threatened Joe with the possibility of being nominated in order to make him use his Veto Entrance Ticket, which worked.
When it was revealed that Nick had nominated Ben, Ben and Clifford felt extremely betrayed, since they felt that Nick had committed to the old-school alliance, even though Tyler had truly been the first person to betray it. In House B, Brandon, Dan, and Joe managed to make a deal with Felix to protect him if he agreed to jump ship with them and vote to evict Trey. The fall-out from the PoV ceremony caused Clifford to quit the game, in combination with some personal things that he was going through prior to the beginning of the season. House B's eviction was cancelled, while House A's still continued, making Ben very upset. In House A, Adam was extremely nervous that he would be evicted due to all of the chaos, but Brandon, Nick, Tara, and Tyler successfully convinced Mackie, Slim, and a reluctant Pydo to join their plan, evicting Ben by a vote of 5-0.
